Built to Deliver. Invisible to the Market.

ETI FAB had manufacturing capability. It had no marketing foundation, no new customer quotes, and almost no local recognition.

01 Overview

The factory was ready. The market did not know it existed.

ETI FAB entered a difficult market with capable people, advanced equipment, and no established marketing foundation.

The COVID slowdown made the problem more dangerous. Business depended on current customers while new customer quotes remained nearly absent.

The company could fabricate, machine, weld, assemble, and deliver complex work. Prospective buyers could not easily discover those capabilities or understand why ETI FAB deserved consideration.

The website used broad language that did not clearly define the company. Local search visibility was weak. Customer profiles, positioning, content strategy, conversion paths, and performance reporting were not established.

The commercial problem was larger than website traffic. ETI FAB needed awareness, trust, qualified demand, and a repeatable path toward new customers.

02 The Challenge

Leadership expected growth before marketing had earned belief.

Leadership gave me responsibility for making marketing work. There was no established playbook, customer journey, measurement system, or experienced guide showing me what to build.

People doubted whether marketing could produce industrial sales. The first experiments did not create immediate results, which made that skepticism stronger.

An original landing page attracted visits, but visitors scrolled briefly and left. Traffic appeared, yet the page did not create enough relevance or trust to move prospects toward contact.

The first customer journey also proved too simple. Industrial buyers did not move directly from search to quote.

Engineers, purchasing teams, owners, and operations leaders could enter the decision at different moments. Buyers returned across multiple touchpoints and took longer to reach internal agreement.

The research provided a starting hypothesis. Actual customer behavior revealed where that hypothesis was wrong.

The challenge became personal. I had to learn without a map, accept failed assumptions, and produce evidence before the organization would believe in the system.

03 Approach

I turned trial and error into a disciplined growth system.

  1. 01

Define the commercial problem before choosing tactics

I changed the assignment from promoting the company into solving a measurable business problem. ETI FAB needed qualified quotes, stronger recognition, clearer differentiation, and evidence that marketing could influence growth.

  2. 02

Research the market from several directions

I studied current customers, top accounts, competitors, search behavior, industries, capabilities, customer priorities, and geographic opportunities. I combined internal conversations with website data, keyword research, customer questions, competitive reports, and market analysis. This helped separate assumptions from evidence.

  3. 03

Build segments around companies, behavior, and needs

I developed customer profiles using company characteristics, buying behavior, technical needs, location, and decision priorities. The strongest opportunities were not defined by industry alone. Buyers also differed by lead time pressure, quality requirements, manufacturing complexity, and the support needed before requesting a quote.

  4. 04

Separate immediate growth from long term brand building

I divided the strategy into two connected engines. Growth marketing focused on quotes, sales opportunities, contact forms, email engagement, referrals, sales outreach, acquisition activity, and trade shows. Brand strategy focused on trust, expertise, positioning, technical proof, consistent messaging, and future recognition. Growth created opportunities. Brand strength gave buyers reasons to continue.

  5. 05

Reposition the company around specific expertise

I replaced generic language with a clearer position built around metal fabrication and machining expertise. I changed the Google Business category to Metal Fabricator. Website messaging began emphasizing capabilities, quality standards, precision, service, and reasons to request a quote.

  6. 06

Use failed testing to correct the customer journey

The first landing page did not hold attention. I reviewed engagement behavior, reconsidered the message hierarchy, strengthened proof, and simplified the contact path. The revised experience encouraged deeper scrolling and more contact activity. Increased contact activity was followed by additional RFQ submissions. The test changed how I measured success. Immediate sales could not be the only signal during a long industrial buying cycle.

  7. 07

Build local search coverage around buyer intent

I created a location strategy designed to make ETI FAB visible from Westfield through Indianapolis and toward South Bend. Each landing page connected location, service capabilities, customer needs, technical proof, and an RFQ path. The goal was local relevance, not duplicated content.

  8. 08

Connect several channels across a longer sales cycle

The demand system combined referrals, sales tactics, acquisition activity, SEO forms, email campaigns, multiple follow ups, and trade shows. I trained and coordinated an intern and a salesperson around prospect conversion, customer insight, outreach, and sales follow through. Each channel supported a different moment in the buying process: search created discovery, content and email created confidence, and sales conversations and RFQs moved qualified prospects toward action.

  9. 09

Build authority for search engines and AI answers

I structured service, location, FAQ, and proof content so search engines and AI systems could understand, retrieve, and cite ETI FAB. This was not direct training of an AI platform. It was a deliberate GEO strategy built around authoritative information, local relevance, technical clarity, and consistent company signals.

  10. 10

Measure the journey from visibility to business demand

I connected leading indicators with commercial outcomes. Rankings, impressions, clicks, engagement, contact forms, and AI citations showed whether demand was developing. RFQs, weekly sales inquiries, and new customer accounts showed whether the system influenced the business.

04 Outcome

Marketing moved from an unproven idea into a measurable source of demand.

The early 2022 evidence shows the foundation taking shape. The 2026 results show what happened after research, positioning, experimentation, content, and measurement began working as one system.

ETI FAB improved from search position 68 to the top three. Ten priority keywords reached the top five, with most reaching number one.

From March 2025 through March 2026, ETI FAB generated 418,000 search impressions and 20,600 organic clicks. The organic click rate reached 4.9 percent.

The website recorded 683 contact form submissions during the same reporting period. ETI FAB now generates more than 10 sales inquiries each week.

Google AI Overviews also began citing ETI FAB for local provider, trust, and lead time questions. The company became discoverable when buyers described their needs in natural language.

The business moved beyond dependence on current customers. Marketing created a repeatable system for discovery, trust, contact, and sales follow through.

The most important result was organizational. I created evidence that changed marketing from something people doubted into a business capability they could see working.
